Why Convention?

Early bird registration for Usborne National Convention starts tomorrow, March 1! If you are not already thinking about joining us, I want to encourage you to at least consider it. The training we receive at convention, the motivation to reach our goals, the encouragement from meeting successful consultants from all over the country, the ability to meet & dialogue with the CEO of our company, Randall White...these are just a few things that make convention worth the time & expense of getting there. For me, convention is the fuel that keeps my business running from year to year. I come home every year rejuvenated, inspired, and full of fresh ideas for my business.

You may have a lot of questions concerning convention. Here are some bits of info that may help answer your questions...
  • Convention is June 22 & 23 at the Southern Hills Marriott in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Marriott = really great beds!) :)
  • If you are a Team Leader by then or in the President's Club, convention starts for you on June 21 with Leadership Day.

  • The early bird cost is $170 plus the hotel room...the price increases to $220 after March 30.

  • There is a payment plan available.

  • There will be a group of gals carpooling from Alabama/Tennesee/Mississippi.
  • The convention rate for the hotel rooms is usually $99/night. But, we share hotel rooms 4 to a room to cut the cost...and because it's more fun! :)

  • Most meals are included in the cost of convention.

  • All these expenses are business expenses that you can claim for taxes.
  • You get a fun Usborne bag & lots of brand new titles just for attending!!!

Check out the cute convention tote bag!

If you register by March 15, your name is put into a drawing to win either a $50 gift card to the Bargain Book Store at convention or a seat next to Randall at a convention lunch. Jessica Wood won the seat next to Randall last year...pretty awesome to be a brand new consultant and sitting at the CEO's table!!!

Jessica sitting between Peter Usborne & Randall White!

This info plus much more is now available on the convention website at www.myubam.com/convention. Go check it out and email me, Tara, Julianne, or Jessica with any questions you have. We would LOVE for you to join us!!!

Even if their home party is not until March, the eShow sales that happen in February will count towards February sales!!! :)

Tomorrow is National Calling Day!!!

The home office has officially declared tomorrow as a national calling day! For new consultants, this is something that the home office will do from time to time to help us get over any fears of the phone we may have. :) It is reassuring to know that consultants all over the country are picking up the phone too! And, we have LOTS to be calling people about...the $29 kit which ends in less than 2 weeks, our new Cards for a Cause fundraisers, home parties (especially consultants in their incentive periods)...and much more. So, if there are phone calls you have been putting off, tomorrow is THE DAY to make them!!! And, share with us how it goes...tell your Team Leader or share your successes in the comments section below. And remember...sometimes you have to go through several "no's" to get your "yes's"!!!

How is earning the iPad coming???

Just a reminder that the month of February is almost halfway over. That means that you have about 2 weeks left to make sure you have the sales you need to earn Home Office Challenge 1 for February. Remember that you have to earn HOC 1 for February, March, April, & May to earn the iPad 2. Consultants*...here is what you need to earn HOC 1 for each of these months:

February - $500 net sales
March - $750 net sales
April - $750 net sales
May - $750 net sales

*Team Leaders...you know that your requirements are a little higher.

Are you close to earning $500 net sales for February? Do you have events coming up to make sure you will reach that goal? Also, be sure that you are looking ahead to March, April, & May...be sure you have enough events on your calendars to reach the sales you need in those months as well. Earning the iPad 2 is SO ACHIEVABLE for everyone...I don't want anyone to miss out on this awesome opportunity!!!

Weekly Highlights & Lake Training!

This past weekend we had our first annual team training at Lake Martin! Julianne Carney, Felicia Self, Jessica Wood, Tara Maple, Katie Meyerpeter, Melinda Thompson, Jaime Laird, and Michele Williams all drove in Friday night for a weekend of training & fun. It was SO GREAT to get to know other girls on our team, to learn more about this awesome business, and to encourage each other in the pursuit of our goals! An unexpected surprise was getting to Skype with not only Ruth Smith, but also Nancy Ann Wartman AND Heather Cobb, National Sales Manager of Usborne Books & More! I think we all left motivated and excited about our businesses. One of the fun highlights was when we literally picked up a car! FYI...this was NOT a planned team-building activity. It was out of necessity because Katie backed over a tree stump! ;) Joking aside, we all spent time working on goals for our businesses. We are all planning to earn the iPad 2 in June AND many of these consultants are working towards promoting to Team Leader before the summer!

Here are some other team highlights from this past week...
  • Katie Meyerpeter (Chelsea, AL) earned Success Kit 1 for having $750 net sales so far in her incentive period. AND, she had her first new consultant join her team...welcome Michele Williams (Birmingham, AL)!
  • Melinda Thompson (Batesville, MS) also earned Success Kit 1! And, she has appointments with a day care and an elementary school this week!
  • Julianne Carney (Collierville, TN) has author visits lined up for the schools in Collierville THIS WEEK!!! Jane Hampton Cook, author of What Does the President Look Like?, arrived in Memphis last night and begins visiting the Collierville schools this morning! Julianne, we are so excited for you and proud of all the hard work you have put in to this!
